The energy utilization and operational cost benefits associated with on-site electrical generation systems which also recover and utilize the waste heat energy associated with the burning of the primary fuel has long been recognized. Cogeneration is an established, proven technology to simultaneously produce two types of useful energy for facility operation, electricity, and thermal energy (hot water and/or steam) from the burning of one primary input fuel, usually natural gas or fuel oil. A cogeneration system is especially applicable to large industrial and medical facilities which have continuous 24-hours-per-day energy requirements for heating and cooling coincident with required electrical energy generation.
